Alice is an artist based in North Devon. With a background in teaching, running a gallery and most recently working as an Artist Assistant for a well known international British artist as part of Science(UK). She has also provided artwork for commercial projects such as label design for the spirits industry, created products such as cards and homeware using her illustrations, as well as producing public art for charity.
Alice has always had an affinity for portraits and figures and has continued to develop her oil painting skills within her professional artwork. Her work demonstrates an intense realism, emphasising form, movement, strength and beauty. Inspired by living near the coast, Alice recently produced a series of underwater figures, exploring ideas of feminism, the female experience and emotional labour, through otherworldly, ethereal, and floating, dreamlike forms.
However, Alice also works in collage and mixed media creating colourful, floral pieces. With this she pulls away from the precise oil painted figures, to a looser more illustrative style. Using a combination of painted paper, magazine and book cuttings, Acrylic and Watercolour paints. In these bold responses to nature, she explores the exaggerated colours and simplified forms in creating an impression of the joy she feels from the beauty of Mother Nature.

Prints are available in many of my pieces, especially the floral work. So if there’s something you see that you love, but don’t want an original, please just ask.
